Grand Forks County Sheriff lied about location of deputy that shooting victim rammed with vehicle

Sheriff Bob Rost attempted to conceal the whereabouts of Sgt. Andy Schneider on the night David James Elliot was shot

by Timothy Charles Holmseth on April 3, 2015 at 11:08 P.M.

David James Elliot was afraid for his life the night he rammed his pick-up into a sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle - which resulted in him being shot six times.

In a an opinion letter authored by Grand Forks County States Attorney David Jones, David Elliot rammed his Silverado into the front bumper of Grand Forks County Deputy Andy Schneider’s police vehicle.

Jones also states Schneider had been pursuing David Elliot down I-29, in a pursuit that began near the Oslo, Minnesota interchange; 16 miles north of Grand Forks, North Dakota.

But there’s a tremendous problem regarding this fact.

Here’s the problem.

On March 2, 2015, Grand Forks County Sheriff Bob Rost told news reporters during a television press conference regarding the shooting, that his deputies did not become involved in the pursuit until they were in the city of Grand Forks.

REPORTER: “The Sheriff’s Department is here – I mean, were you in on this chase before it ever got to Grand Forks?”

Sheriff Rost: “A couple of my deputies. In town here, yes.

REPORTER: “You picked up on it when the chase was in Grand Forks?”

Sheriff’s Rost: “Correct”

REPORTER: “Can you say what was he being pursued for?”

Sheriff Rost: “Actually, the BCI is putting all this together. They have not finished the investigation yet. And they have more to do today. So when that’s complete I’m sure you’ll get more details.”

Rost openly stated he was aware the BCI was investigating. That means he was committing a criminal offense when he lied to the media about Schneider’s location.

Rost didn't want the BCI to know where Schneider was that night.

What does that mean?

It means this.

The Grand Forks County Sheriff lied to the American public and the BCI about the location of Sgt. Andy Schneider.

And now folks – you can imagine what was going through the mind of David Elliot when he saw Schneider blocking his way to the Altru Emergency Room.

If Rost would have gotten away with the lie he told, the public would have never known Schneider was following David Elliot down I-29.

Rost lied about the whereabouts of Schneider because there is something Schneider did or knows about that Rost wants to keep a secret.

Sheriff Bob Rost needs to step down and the Federal Bureau of Investigation needs to join the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation in their investigation into this attempted murder.
